Step-by-step Guide

1. Preparation

• Update the inverter and battery firmware before connecting.
• Ensure the device has the latest firmware, since Qilowatt always relies on the newest Modbus protocol.

2. RS485 connections

GoodWe ET 5–10 kW hybrid inverter (COM port):
• Pin 1 → RS485 A1
• Pin 2 → RS485 B1
Use Pin 1 (A) and Pin 2 (B) to connect the Qilowatt device.

Note: Before installation, make sure the device has a Data port.
GoodWe ET 15–30 kW hybrid inverter (EMS port):
• Pin 1 → RS485 A
• Pin 2 → RS485 B
• Pin 4 → GND
• Pin 5 → CAN_L
• Pin 6 → CAN_H
Use Pin 1 (A) and Pin 2 (B) to connect the Qilowatt device.

3. Inverter settings

• Modbus address: 247 (default)
• Baud rate: 9600 (default)

If needed, the Modbus address can be changed via the GoodWe SEMS or Solar-Go apps.

4. Operating modes

• Set the inverter to Self-use mode (in older systems called General).
• Disable all modes that prevent external control:
TOU (time-of-use)
ECO
Peak Shaving
All remote controls

5. Why is a firmware update necessary?

Qilowatt always uses the manufacturer’s latest Modbus protocol. If the inverter or battery firmware is not updated, control may not work correctly.

Result

The GoodWe ET / ET Plus inverter is successfully configured and connected to the Qilowatt system. The module transmits data and enables inverter control and energy optimization.

If it Doesn’t Work

• If communication does not work, check the RS485 connections and confirm that the port is available.
• If control does not function, make sure the inverter is in Self-use mode and that all other modes (TOU, ECO, Peak Shaving) are disabled.

Huawei SUN2000 M1 (10 kW) COM port:
• Pin 1 → RS485 A1
• Pin 3 → RS485 B1
• Pin 5 → GND (maandus)
• Pin 7 → RS485 A2 (Smart Meter + battery)
• Pin 9 → RS485 B2 (Smart Meter + battery)
• Pin 13 → GND

For Qilowatt connection, use Pin 1 (A) and Pin 3 (B).

3. Inverter settings

• Modbus address: 1 (default)
• Baud rate: 9600 (default)

If necessary, the Modbus address can be changed by Qilowatt support, but this is not required for standard connections.

4. Operating modes

• Set the inverter to Self-use mode.
• In the FusionSolar app, disable all TOU (time-of-use) modes to avoid conflicts.

Solax X1/X3 inverter COM port:

Solax Ultra inverter RS485 port:

3. Inverter settings

• Unlock password: 2014
Solax is the only manufacturer that requires an Unlock Password for Modbus control. If the password is changed, Qilowatt will no longer be able to control the inverter.
• Modbus address: 1 (default)
• Baud rate: 9600
The inverter default Baud rate is 19200. For communication with Qilowatt, this must be changed to 9600. If needed, the Qilowatt support team can adjust this in the Qilowatt device as well.

Modbus address and Baud rate settings can also be modified via the Solax SolarCloud app.

4. Operating modes

• Mandatory step: enable battery usage
Discharge period: 00:00–23:59
Charge period: 00:00–00:00
• Installer password: 2014
Test whether you can access Remote control in Solax Cloud with this password.
• Disable all remote controls, AI features, and time-of-use schedules to avoid conflicts.
• Operation takes place in Back-Up mode.
! In Self-use mode, the inverter will not accept commands if the battery is empty.
• The Solax Datahub must be removed – even if not actively controlling, it interferes with communication.

To use Qilowatt services, your device must be connected to your home WiFi network. This guide will help you connect your device for the first time or after a reset.

Prerequisites

• A Qilowatt device (e.g. Modbus R2) is available and functioning
• A Qilowatt account has been created → Creating a user account
• A home WiFi network operating on 2.4 GHz
• WiFi SSID contains only Latin letters and numbers (max. 32 characters, no spaces or special characters)
• WiFi password is available

Step-by-step Guide

1. Connecting to WiFi (general guide)

1. Plug the device into a power outlet.
• The blue light will start blinking.
2. On your smartphone, connect to the temporary WiFi network broadcast by the device.
• The SSID will start with “Qilowatt”.
• Find it under your phones WiFi settings and connect to it

3. Once connected, a setup dialog will open automatically.
• If it doesn’t, open a browser and go to http://192.168.4.1
4. Fill in the following fields:
• Email – the same email used for your Qilowatt account
• WiFi Network (SSID) – the name of your home WiFi network
• WiFi Password – type your password (you can tick the white box next to “Password” to verify it’s correct)
5. Save the settings
• Click the button Save.
• The device will now restart and connect to your home WiFi.

Telia X2 router specifics

If you are using a Telia X2 (Technicolor DGA4330) router, you must adjust the router settings before connecting the device – deactivate the router’s 2.4GHz network 802.11n standard, allowing only 802.11b/g connection:
1. Connect your computer or smartphone to your home network (via cable or WiFi).
2. Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1.
3. Log in:
• Username: user (default)
• Password: Web Access Key (printed on the bottom of the router)
4. Open Advanced interface.
5. From the menu, go to Wireless.
6. Click Show advanced.
7. Change the 2.4GHz WiFi mode to 802.11b/g (disable 802.11n support).
8. Save the changes.

Result

Your device is successfully connected to your home WiFi network and ready to be linked with the Qilowatt app.

If it Doesn’t Work

• Make sure your home WiFi is working and operates on 2.4 GHz.
• Ensure that your WiFi name (SSID) does not contain special characters or spaces.
• If you are using a Telia X2 router, follow the dedicated guide → Telia X2 ruuteri erisus.

If your Qilowatt device cannot connect to your WiFi or you need to change the network, you can reset its WiFi settings. After the reset, the device can be reconnected to a new WiFi network.

Prerequisites

• A device whose WiFi settings need to be reset
• Supported device models: PG01 v2, SK01, 1PM PRO, S1 PRO, DUAL R2, TH16, POW R2, 3EM
• Physical access to the device (button located on the device)

Step-by-step Guide

1. Press the device button 6 times at a moderate pace.
2. The indicator light will start blinking – the device is now ready for WiFi setup.
3. Now you can connect your device back to your Wifi following the guide → Connecting the device to WiFi

Result

The device WiFi settings are cleared and it can be reconnected to your home network.

If it Doesn’t Work

• Make sure you’re using one of the supported devices (see Prerequisites).
• If the reset doesn’t start, press the button six times again at a calm, steady pace.
